We chatted to Signature Works coworker Julia Day about what she does and how Signature Works benefits her.
Could you tell us a little bit about yourself?
My name’s Julia Day and my business is called ‘Easy as VAT’ and I help freelancers and people who own their own business to learn about tax, accounting and book-keeping – that kind of thing.
How did you get started?
I was working as an accountant and I was also a blogger as well and I had a lot of friends who were making money from their blog or doing a lot of freelance work and noticed that they would often tweet about their tax return and being confused about it and not knowing how to invoice people, so I created a website to be a resource for them to help them to deal with those kind of things and it just took off really fast and I ended up going full time at the end of last year.
Why did you choose Signature Works?
I chose Signature Works because I had worked at home for a while and I always found it really lonely and isolating and I always find that I work a lot better with people and Signature Works is a really good location for me, it’s right in the city centre, so it’s close to everything. I can have meetings if I need to meet anyone or if I’m going to any events or anything like that.
How has Signature Works benefited you?
I feel it’s benefited me because I’ve had the ability to get to know a lot of other freelancers, I’ve been able to help them out with their accounting and I’ve also made a lot of friends in the short time that I’ve been here.
If you were to recommend Signature Works to anyone, who would it be?
I would recommend Signature Works to anyone who is a bit bored at home, freelancing or wants to make friends and network.
